Backup pairs

A pair is the saved relationship between sources, one destination, and the rules that operate between them.

The All pairs section on Home summarizes backups and synchronizations, protected file counts, last and next activity, and any pair requiring attention. Select a row to expose its actions; double-click it to edit.

Pair actions​

  • Back up now / Synchronize now starts work immediately.
  • Change opens sources, destination, schedule, filters, and other behavior.
  • Restore opens recovery for a backup pair.
  • Log filters operation history to the pair.
  • Delete removes the configuration but keeps data already written to the destination.

Destination identity​

For removable media, a pair records more than a drive letter. This guards against writing to the wrong device after Windows reassigns letters. If the destination has genuinely been replaced, use the destination picker to associate the intended storage.

Repair file list​

O&O AutoBackup records destination state to avoid rereading a slow network or cloud target on every run. Use Repair file list only when the recorded state needs to be rebuilt, for example after files at the destination were changed outside O&O AutoBackup. The next scan may take longer.
