Manage partitions

O&O PartitionManager creates, resizes, moves and deletes partitions. In O&O BlueCon, no partition of the disk is in use, so even the Windows partition can be changed.

Prerequisites:

Change a partition

  1. Click Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > O&O PartitionManager.
  2. Select the disk and the partition.
  3. Choose the action, for example resize, move, create or delete.
  4. Check the planned changes and apply them.
  5. Wait until all changes are complete before you close the program.
Data loss possible

Deleting a partition deletes its data. An interrupted resize or move – for example by a power failure – can make the partition unreadable. Back up first and keep the computer connected to power.

Split the Windows partition

If a disk has only one partition for Windows and data, you can split it, for example to keep your data apart from Windows.

  1. Select the Windows partition.
  2. Right-click it and choose Change location and size.
  3. Reduce Partition size so that free space remains after the partition. Keep enough free space for Windows and its updates on the Windows partition.
  4. Right-click the free space and choose New partition > Primary partition.
  5. Apply the changes and wait until they are complete.

Result

The partitions are changed. If you changed the Windows partition, restart the computer from its disk and check that Windows starts.

O&O PartitionManager includes its own detailed help, which opens from the program.
