Recover deleted files

O&O DiskRecovery searches a drive for deleted files and restores them. In O&O BlueCon, the affected drive is not in use, so its deleted data is not overwritten by Windows while you search.

Prerequisites:

  • Your license includes O&O DiskRecovery (see Feature overview).
  • An external drive for the recovered files.

Recover the files

  1. Connect the external drive.
  2. Click Start > Programs > FileRecovery > O&O DiskRecovery.
  3. Select the drive on which the files were deleted.
  4. Start the search and wait for the result.
  5. Select the files you want to recover.
  6. Choose the external drive as the destination and recover the files.
Never recover to the same drive

Saving recovered files on the drive you are searching can overwrite the very data you want to recover. Always choose another drive as the destination.

Result

The recovered files are on the external drive. Whether a file can be recovered completely depends on how much of the drive has been written to since it was deleted.
