First steps
This tutorial takes you through a complete first run: you create a boot USB drive, start a computer from it and open a program on its Windows installation. Use a working computer for this test.
Prerequisites: O&O BlueCon is installed and licensed (Install and activate), and you have a USB flash drive whose contents you no longer need.
1. Create the boot USB drive
- Connect the USB flash drive.
- Start O&O BlueCon.
- Click Create a bootable medium to use the application.
- Under Target medium, select the USB drive (Removable drive with its name and size).
- Click Apply.
- Check the drive named in the confirmation and click Erase disk.
The media creator now runs through its phases from Preparations to Create media. This takes several minutes. When Successfully created! appears, the USB drive is ready.
All partitions and files on the selected USB drive are deleted.
2. Start a computer from the USB drive
- Connect the USB drive to the test computer and restart it.
- Open the boot menu of the firmware and select the USB drive. The key depends on the manufacturer, often F12, F11, F8 or Esc.
O&O BlueCon starts and shows Starting O&O BlueCon…. See Start a computer from the boot media for details.
3. Check the start wizard
The start wizard Welcome to O&O BlueCon shows three rows:
- Target – the Windows installation found on the disk
- Network – the network and internet connection
- Screen – the screen resolution
A green status means that nothing needs to be done. Click Next.
4. Open a program
- Click Start in the taskbar or press the Windows key.
- Select Programs > Administrative Tools > O&O DeskInfo.
O&O DeskInfo shows the hardware of the computer. All programs are also available as tiles in the launch pad at the top of the desktop.
5. End O&O BlueCon
- Click Start, then Restart.
- Confirm with Restart and remove the USB drive.
The computer starts its own Windows again.
