User interface
O&O BlueCon has two user interfaces: the media creator on your Windows PC and the recovery environment on the computer you repair.
Media creator
The main window Create recovery environment offers two tiles:
| Element | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Create a bootable medium to use the application | Writes the recovery environment to a USB drive or saves it as an ISO or WIM image. See Create boot media. |
| Integrate the application directly into Microsoft Windows | Adds O&O BlueCon to the boot menu of this PC. See Integrate O&O BlueCon into Windows. |
| Reset boot menu | Removes the boot menu entry again; shown only after an integration. |
| Advanced options | Expert mode, pre-build cleanup, O&O Syspectr and log files. See Settings. |
| Start the recovery environment | Explains how to start the boot media. |
| About | Version and license information. |
Start wizard
After the start, the recovery environment shows Welcome to O&O BlueCon. It prepares the computer: it finds the Windows installation, assigns drive letters, unlocks BitLocker drives on request and sets up network and screen. Each row has a status and a Change button. See Prepare the target system.
You can open the start wizard again at any time with Start > Control Panel > O&O BlueCon - Configuration.
Desktop
| Element | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Launch pad | Tiles at the top of the screen, one per program, grouped like the start menu. One click starts a program. |
| Start | Opens the start menu with Control Panel, Programs, About, Help and Support, Run…, Restart and Shut down. |
| Taskbar buttons | One button per open window. Click it to bring the window to the front; click it again to minimize the window. Right-click shows the window menu. |
| Clock | Shows the time; click it for the date. |
There is no Windows Explorer in the recovery environment. To work with files, use O&O DiskCommander (Windows key+E).
See Start menu and programs and Keyboard shortcuts.
