Start a computer from the boot media
To service a computer, start it from the O&O BlueCon boot media instead of its own Windows.
Prerequisites: boot media (Create boot media) or a boot menu entry (Integrate O&O BlueCon into Windows).
Start from a USB drive
- Connect the O&O BlueCon USB drive to the computer.
- Switch the computer on, or restart it.
- Open the boot menu of the firmware and select the USB drive. The key depends on the manufacturer, often F12, F11, F8 or Esc. Alternatively, put the USB drive first in the boot order of the BIOS or UEFI firmware.
Start from the ISO image
- Virtual machine: attach the ISO file as a virtual DVD drive and start the virtual machine from it.
- DVD: burn the ISO file with a burning program, insert the DVD and start the computer from the DVD drive.
Start from the boot menu
Restart the computer and select O&O BlueCon in the Windows boot menu.
Result
O&O BlueCon starts and shows Starting O&O BlueCon… while the recovery environment loads its drivers and the network. Then the start wizard Welcome to O&O BlueCon opens.
Start without changes to the disk
Starting O&O BlueCon does not change the Windows installation on the disk. Changes are made only when you use a program that changes it.
End O&O BlueCon
- Click Start.
- Click Restart or Shut down and confirm.
The start wizard also has a Restart button. Remove the USB drive before the computer starts again, so that it starts its own Windows.
