Set up network and screen

A network connection lets you copy data to a network share, download drivers and tools with Firefox and open the online help. The recovery environment uses DHCP automatically; you only intervene when the Network row of the start wizard reports a problem.

Configure a wired connection

  1. In the start wizard, click Change in the Network row.
  2. On the IP configuration tab, select the Network device.
  3. Choose Automatic for DHCP, or Manual and enter IP address, Subnet mask, Gateway servers and DNS.
  4. Click Apply.
  5. Click Close.

Connect to a Wi-Fi network

  1. In the start wizard, click Change in the Network row.
  2. Open the Wi-Fi tab and select the network. For a hidden network, select Hidden network and enter the Name (SSID) of the hidden network.
  3. Enter the key under WPA2-Key:.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. Click Close.

Result

The Network row reports Network and internet connections are available. If it reports No network devices found, the adapter needs a driver, see Load drivers.

Change the screen resolution

  1. In the start wizard, click Change in the Screen row.
  2. Select a resolution in the list.
  3. Click Apply. The resolution is tested and kept.
  4. Click Close.
