First Steps
- Save your work and start OOCheckAndRepair.exe, or launch it from your O&O product's tools.
- Approve the Windows administrator prompt. System maintenance needs elevated permissions.
- Select the checks you want to run: Check component store, Check system files, Check disk and Check Windows recovery environment.
- Choose Check and wait. The window shows the current topic and step number; the selected options are locked while the run is active.
- Review the marks beside the checks. If the initial check finds problems, the action changes to Repair.
- Choose Repair when you are ready to let the tool repair the selected areas. Keep the computer powered and allow the run to finish.
- If problems remain, choose Show log file when offered and follow the troubleshooting guidance.
Repair changes Windows
Keep a current backup of important files before repairing the system. Cancelling an active repair can leave Windows in an inconsistent state.
Running the first check does not automatically start the repair pass. See Checks for the scope of each option.
