Repair detected problems
From check to repair
After a check reports a problem, the main action becomes Repair. Review the selected areas before starting. The repair pass works on the selected areas; there is no separate repair button for each failed row.
Repairs use the Windows maintenance functions. They can need network access to obtain repair or recovery data. If Windows servicing finds no suitable source data or a required service is unavailable, the repair can fail even though the problem was detected correctly.
Let the operation finish
Keep the computer connected to power. Do not start another Windows repair or servicing operation at the same time. Wait for the result before closing the application or restarting Windows.
If you select Cancel, the application asks for confirmation. During a repair it shows an additional warning, because an interruption can leave the system inconsistent. Cancelling asks the tool to stop its work; it does not roll back changes already made.
When problems remain
Open Show log file when it is offered and note the failing area and the error text. Follow any restart instructions from Windows. After the required restart, check the affected area again. Repeating the repair without reading the logged error rarely resolves a missing source, a permission issue or a damaged recovery configuration. See Troubleshooting.
