Licensing, version, and updates
Use the licensing controls in the application to enter or manage your license. A license applies to the product edition and version for which it was issued.
Check the installed version
Open About O&O Defrag from the application's information or help controls. Record the full version, including the build number, and the edition. This information is useful when comparing documentation, installing updates, or contacting support.
Trial and full version
The trial lets you evaluate the application. Availability of advanced functions can differ from the full version. In particular, OODCMD and the advanced Windows RE optimization features require the full version.
When the application presents a license-entry or activation dialog:
- Enter the supplied license information exactly as received.
- Complete the dialog's validation or activation steps.
- Reopen the requested feature after the application confirms the license.
- If it remains unavailable, check the edition and version in About.
Do not post license keys in public issue reports or screenshots. If entry fails, contact support with the error and product version.
Updates
Check the product's update notification or update control and follow its instructions. Before installing an update, finish optimization jobs and save open work. Restart if the installer asks you to.
After updating, open O&O Defrag and confirm that the agent connects. If settings report an outdated background service, update or repair the installation so the interface and service match.
Separate applications launched from Tools can have their own update prompts. Updating a tool does not update O&O Defrag itself.
Command-line licensing
OODCMD license displays the license state. It is read-only: you cannot enter a key or activate a trial through OODCMD. Resolve licensing in the graphical application, then retry the command. See Command-line reference.
