Restore Files

File restore is the safest restore workflow because it does not overwrite an entire drive. You can restore all files from a file backup or choose individual directories and files.

Restore A File Backup​

  1. Open Manage backups or Restore backups.
  2. Select the backup set.
  3. Choose Restore files and directories.
  4. Select the backup run to restore from.
  5. Choose whether to restore all data or select directories and files.
  6. Select the target folder.
  7. Start the restore.

Large backups may take time and memory to load when browsing the file tree. If you only need a few files from a large image backup, mounting the backup as a drive can be faster.

Restore Target Folder​

For file restore, the target is a folder. You can restore to the original location when appropriate or to a separate folder if you want to compare files first.

If the selected target path is invalid or has too little free space, O&O DiskImage warns before starting.

Encrypted Backups​

If the backup is encrypted, select Enter password and provide the password used when the backup was created. Without the correct password, the restore cannot continue.
