First steps

Goal: start O&O DriveLED, read the LED bar and place it where it does not get in the way.

Prerequisites: the complete application package supplied by O&O; no administrator rights are needed.

1. Start OODriveLED.exe. A small LED bar and a single icon in the Windows notification area appear.
2. Find the label of a drive on the bar. The green indicator shows read activity; the red indicator shows write activity.
3. Drag the bar to a convenient position. With Snap to borders enabled, it aligns to the edge of the screen.
4. Right-click the bar or its icon in the notification area to open the settings menu.
5. Select Always on top, Horizontal mode or Opacity to adjust the display.
6. Select Hide LED bar to hide the bar while the program stays available in the notification area. Select Show LED bar there to bring it back.

Result: the bar shows the activity of the drives and keeps its position and display settings for the next session.

Open or copy an ordinary file to observe drive activity. DriveLED only observes the activity; it does not write test files to make the indicators work.

To stop DriveLED completely, select Exit. See Startup and notification area to run it at Windows sign-in.
