System Requirements
O&O RegEditor is a lightweight application with modest requirements.

| Dark mode | Full dark-mode support requires Windows 10 version 1809 or later. On older systems the light theme is used. |
| Display | Any resolution. The interface is High-DPI aware and scales crisply on high-resolution displays. |
| Input | Keyboard and mouse. Most editing tasks can also be completed from the keyboard alone. |
| Permissions | Administrator rights are required to change protected areas of the registry such as parts of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. |
Installation
O&O RegEditor is distributed as a single executable. The English and German user-interface resources are embedded in the program and extracted automatically at startup, so no separate language packs need to be installed.
The application also runs in the Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE), for example as part of O&O BlueCon. In that environment settings are kept in memory only and are not written to disk.
Portable use
O&O RegEditor can run portably. If a configuration file named OORegEditor.cfg is present in the same folder as the executable, it is used in preference to the per-user configuration. See Settings Reference for details.
