Before you start
Changing the registry can affect the stability of Windows and installed programs. Before you edit anything important:
- Make a current backup of your data.
- Export the key you are about to change so you can restore it later. See Export.
Make your first change
- Open O&O RegEditor.
- In the key tree on the left, expand a main key (for example
HKEY_CURRENT_USER) and navigate to the key you want to edit. Alternatively, type or paste a path into the address bar and press Enter. - Select a key. Its values appear in the value list on the right.
- To change a value, double-click it – or select it and press Enter – to open the value editor.
- Enter the new data and confirm with OK.
- To add something new, right-click a key and choose New to create a subkey or a value of the type you need.
The change is written to the registry immediately.
