Actions and Windows Settings

Most checks read settings or measurements. A button may open Windows settings, run an additional query, or offer an explicit change. Read the detail text before choosing it.

Power plan​

The performance action can change the Windows power configuration to favor performance. On a portable PC, consider the effect on battery use, fan noise and heat. Review the resulting plan in Windows if you want to select a different balance later.

Visual effects​

The performance option reduces visual effects while retaining font smoothing and thumbnails. The confirmation explains the change. Use Windows' visual-effects settings if you later want to restore or customize the appearance.

Restart​

The restart action performs a Windows restart. Save open work first. Refreshing SpeedCheck is different from restarting Windows and does not satisfy a pending-restart requirement.

Low Latency Profile​

SpeedCheck checks Windows build and feature state and observes CPU clock behavior. Activation and reversion of its Low Latency Profile switches are expert actions guarded by a confirmation. Their applicability depends on the detected Windows version and state.

Do not treat a profile suggestion as a guaranteed speed improvement. Read the details, use the offered revert action if you need to reverse the change, and compare results under similar workloads. A brief clock observation alone is not a full performance benchmark.

Options such as graphics settings, core isolation and indexing open Windows controls for your review. SpeedCheck does not automatically disable security features or stop processes when it runs its checks.
