Frequently asked questions

Is the performance index a benchmark score?

No. It is a weighted summary of the diagnostic checks, not a measurement of application throughput or a promised speed improvement. See Results and the performance index.

Does Refresh change Windows settings?

No. Refresh runs the checks again. Changes such as the power plan, visual effects, Low Latency Profile switches and a restart require their own actions. See Actions and Windows settings.

Why are update results missing?

Some update queries run only on demand, and they depend on Windows Update or winget and their network sources. An unavailable query does not mean that there are no updates. See Update checks and reports.

Can SpeedCheck remove temporary files or startup programs?

No. It reports the relevant findings and offers links to the Windows tools in which cleanup and startup entries are managed. See Performance checks.

Why does the score change between runs?

Free memory and process load change during normal use, and updates, settings and disk space affect the findings as well. Compare reports collected under similar conditions. See Troubleshooting.

Can I send the results to support?

Yes. Use Copy findings for text or Export findings... for an HTML report, and check the content for private information before sending it. See Support and more from O&O.
