First steps
Goal: check the PC once, understand the most important findings and apply only the changes that suit it.
Prerequisites: an administrator account.
- Start OOSpeedCheck.exe and approve the Windows administrator prompt.
- Let the initial checks finish. Use Refresh later for a new snapshot.
- Review the Performance index and the findings below it. Start with the recommendations that have a higher Impact.
- Open the details of a finding to read its explanation and the suggested action.
- Run an action only after reading what it changes. Some actions open a Windows settings page; others ask you to confirm a change.
- Select Refresh after making changes to see the new findings.
- Use Copy findings or Export findings... to keep a record or to request help.
Result: the list shows the current findings, and the index reflects the changes you made.
Some update checks are started on demand rather than during every refresh. A finding that has not been checked is not the same as a finding that reports no pending updates.
The index helps you decide what to investigate first. It does not measure how quickly every application runs. See Results and the performance index.
