Enable, Disable, Delay and Delete

Select an entry, then use Actions or its right-click menu. Availability depends on the source, current state and your permissions.

Disable and enable

Disable prevents the entry's automatic startup while preserving its registration where supported. It does not uninstall the associated program or necessarily stop an already running process.

To restore automatic startup, choose the Disabled view, select the entry and choose Enable. Test the change at the next startup or sign-in relevant to that entry.

Delay

Delay is available for eligible automatic services and enabled scheduled tasks with logon or boot triggers. Services use Windows' delayed automatic start; supported task triggers receive a two-minute delay.

Registry Run entries, Startup-folder shortcuts and Store startup tasks do not support this delay action. An already delayed or unchangeable entry cannot be delayed again through this action. Changing a service requires administrator rights.

Delete an entry

Deletion removes its startup registration and asks for confirmation. The effect depends on the source: deleting a service or task registration is more significant than removing a Startup-folder shortcut. For a WMI subscription, the confirmation explains that the filter-to-consumer binding is removed.

Deletion has no general undo

Prefer disabling when you want to try a change. Recreating a deleted entry may require the application's own settings, repair or reinstallation. Deleting a startup entry is not the same as uninstalling its program.

Inspect first

Use Properties, the folder-opening action or the copy action to inspect the target and its details. Drivers are listed for information and cannot be changed through these actions.
